10 Years of Digital Image Processing Components at Baumer

The Baumer Group celebrates 10 years since it commenced business in digital image processing components by establishing Baumer Optronic GmbH in Radeberg.

Since its founding in 1997, Baumer Optronic GmbH has been a member of the internationally operating Baumer Group. This world-wide supplier of advanced industrial sensors, vision and motion systems offers sophisticated sensor solutions for industry. Over 1900 employees work throughout the world in 32 subsidiaries.

When digital cameras and image acquisition systems, as well as powerful and compact vision sensors in the field of process automation and quality assurance are concerned, one name in the branch cannot be overlooked: Baumer Optronic GmbH. The Radeberg-based company will celebrate its 10th anniversary in November.
Established in 1997 with 20 employees, the staff has now grown to over 100. "Particularly in the past two years, we have seen constantly increasing order volumes, which led to many new positions", the two founding Managing Directors Dr. Joachim Ihlefeld and Dr. Oliver Vietze were pleased to recall. An additional production building was constructed in 2004, extending the production space from 850 to 1300 square meters.
The latest construction project is the extension of the Development Competence Center, which began in April 2007. The handover is planned for spring 2008. 800 square meters of modern offices will make it possible to develop and distribute innovative, high-quality products in the fields of digital imaging and smart vision in an improved environment. This will also create the conditions to expand the manpower for future business.

On September 1st this year, Mr. Dirk Rüttgerodt began with Baumer Optronic, and took responsibility for Commercial Management from Dr. Oliver Vietze, who was appointed to the board of the Baumer Group. Mr. Rüttgerodt now oversees the company together with the long-time Managing Director Dr. Joachim Ihlefeld (Technical Management).

The development of Baumer Optronic GmbH has proceeded from a local team of engineers to a successful, globally-active specialized company for digital image acquisition and processing. Our products are employed in modern process automation and quality assurance in the most diverse branches of industry, medicine and science. The highest requirements on reliability and precision demand maximum accuracy and quality of image data and information required for the decision-making process.

Baumer Optronic GmbH has become specialized in the product sectors of Digital Imaging and Smart Vision. Based on modern CCD and CMOS sensors, an extensive range of products encompassing standard digital cameras and customized OEM camera modules are offered by Digital Imaging and are conceived for sophisticated image processing tasks. These include matrix and line-scan cameras in monochrome and color versions and with resolutions from VGA to 8 megapixel. Diverse interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet, FireWireTM (IEEE1394b, IEEE1394a) and BaumerLink are supported.
The Baumer VeriSens® vision sensors are at the heart of the smart vision product line. They close the gap between classical optical sensors and complex vision systems. VeriSens® vision sensors also offer extensive functions for numerous inspection applications in the field of automation technology, such as checking for completeness, presence, accuracy of location and position. Due to the innovative Baumer FEX® processor technology, the user benefits from process reliability and user-friendliness previously unachieved in this class.
