Baumer Group, a leading international supplier of sensors and sensor solutions, celebrated in January the grand opening of its Chinese subsidiary in Shanghai. Baumer China was already registered as a representative for Baumer products in September 2006 and now serves as the group's business center in the Northern Asia region. This incorporates the sales offices of Guangzhou, Beijing, Shenyang and Shanghai. Today Baumer China already employs 40 people in sales, marketing, technical service and logistics. The office and warehouse space is approximately 1,400 sqm and includes a training center as well as a test laboratory.

At the opening ceremony Dr. Oliver Vietze, CEO Baumer Group, said that this significant development makes China the new prosperous market for sensors. With the foundation of Baumer China, Baumer Group brought its well known high-tech products to the Chinese market. Baumer provides the Chinese customer reliable products and high technical expertise and support. This will enable the company to offer the most suitable sensor solution according to the local requirements. Baumer attaches great importance to innovations and new technologies. Baumer is an optimum solution provider and to support this 12% of the worldwide personnel are employed in research and development.
 
Rüdiger Förster, Executive Board Member Marketing and Sales, comments during the opening ceremony that with pride one can state that Baumer is worthy of being called a "sensor expert".  Its products are leading the markets with respect to precision and reliability. In addition, Baumer applies modern interface and field bus technologies in its product program and takes an active and positive attitude in developing customer-specific solutions. This strength of Baumer is reflected in the simple adaptation of standard products as well as in the complete new development of special customer-specific solutions. With tailor-made products Baumer has already provided competitive advantages to numerous customers. In Baumer China the task is to supply the whole product range and to develop new products and solutions together with the customers.
 
During the ceremony, Mr. Li Zhenyu, Managing Director of Baumer China placed great emphasis on the traditional Baumer core values as closeness to the customer, high quality standards, permanent improvement and an innovative spirit. His team is totally committed to this Baumer philosophy and will practice it in its day to day work.
 
In addition to the management of Baumer Group, important representatives of key customers, VIPs of politics and the economy were in attendance at the opening ceremony. Amongst others Mr. Liu Fusheng, deputy Director of  Songjiang District Foreign Economic Commission , Mr. William Frei, Consul General of the Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai und Dr. Peter Kreutzberger, deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany. All present expressed their warm welcome and sincere congratulations to the first localization in China.
